Several of HPTA’s charter members shown with a special anniversary cake

Thanks to everyone who came out for HPTA’s HPTA’s 35th Anniversary.

We were thrilled to have several of our charter members join us. Shown in the picture are (front row, l-r) Celia Gerard; Jo LeBlanc; Bette Burford, HPTA’s first president in 1976;Jeanette McMurry, Betty Abadie, (back row, l-r) Liz Dickson, Guy Owens, son of the late Eleanor Owens, HPTA’s founder; and Bill Boudet.

We are very thankful for the Baton Rouge Recreation and Parks Commission (BREC), and Baton Rouge Mayor Kip Holden for proclamations they issued, commending HPTA for 35 great years and declaring Oct. 15, 2011, as “Eleanor Owens Day.”

Special thanks to HPTA members Sandra Harshbarger for the beautiful anniversary cake and to Josh Hebert, owner of Bearfoot Arts catering, for the delicious jambalaya lunch.

Here are some pictures from the day.
